Themes of the year: Combinatorics - Dynamical Systems

The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) invites applications for a small number of Post-Doctoral and shorter-term Visiting Fellowships for outstanding mathematicians from developing countries to spend up to 12 months at ICTP during the year January - December 2010. The Post-Doctoral Fellowships are intended for younger mathematicians who have obtained a PhD in mathematics after 1 January 2006, and there may be the possibility for these Fellowships to be renewed for a further 12 months upon request.

In 2010 the emphasis will be on Combinatorics and Dynamical Systems, and it is expected that distinguished specialists in the fields will be present during the year.  Therefore, a special attention will be given to candidates working in these areas.  Preference is given to candidates who have recent publications and recommendation letters from renowned mathematicians in their field.

Candidates should submit a completed application form (available as PDF) together with a full list of publications, an abstract of the PhD thesis, an official statement of the PhD degree obtained, and a copy of three recent publications, in hard copy form by mail or by fax  (+39-040-2240490).  Applications sent by e-mail will not be processed.

Candidates should also arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent - in hard copy form only - directly to:

Successful candidates will have the possibility to participate in the Mathematics activities of ICTP, the International School of Advanced Studies (ISAS/SISSA) and the University of Trieste, as well as the opportunity to have contact with visiting professors.
